To Kotka too a trailer? Or under the own steam
Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. I have been sick with a cold. The trip from Vladimir, Russia to Kotka, Finland was supposed to be by trailer. However, I cannot be certain that this happened. I have my doubts based on the mileage reading on the odometer. I also have my doubts based on the condition of the underside of the car upon arrival. The shipping company was based in Vladimir but has nothing to do with the previous owners. Based on this result, I would not use their services again in the future. Another example is the rear passenger door. I was told that it used to open and close normally. When I received my 3102, this passenger rear door does not work at all. I was not pleased with this. All I can do now is repair it, which I will do during the restoration.
Thank you RPG-7 for the reference to the air conditioner thread. I found this forum only because of this thread via a Google search. My installation may be different because I am not sure what lies underneath my dash. It is a 3110 dash, so perhaps the blower box is also 3110? I won't know until I remove the dash.
Thanks,
Jerry

av8or1, I think your compression test results are quite OK. There is quite no difference between the cylinders and that's great. Was the engine warm enough and was the throttle fully open? The compression ratio of 4021 engine is 6.7, so the pressure should be about 9bar I think...
Hi lexx. Thank you for your valuable continued input. I will do the compression test again to make certain of the results. I was encouraged by the similar numbers, but not sure of the overall result. Another confusing item with this engine is that the oil cap came off of the valve cover! It was a big surprise for me to open the hood and see no oil cap! I found it resting on top of one of the spark plug cables. When I tried to re-install it on the valve cover, it would not lock into position. Therefore I will need a new oil cap in the future. Is this common?

Then, the left rear door or left rear wing could be easily replaced during the repairs or not adopted well enough. The doors could be taken from the car which interior was used. But the similar details can have minor differences and might not fit the particular car. You should better talk to some body repair man or try to adjust the hinges and/or the door lock yourself.
The rear wing appears to be a part of the overall body structure and not removable like the front wings are. I will first take measurements once I have everything disassembled and go from there. Hopefully it is only the door that is the problem.

Talking about trunk lid, it's not quite clear whether it is higher than the wing or is it shifted to the right. If shifted to the right than simply open it, push to the left at the window side and move the lock to the right a bit.
The driver's side of the trunk is higher than the driver's side of the rear quarter panel, causing a gap in elevation along the seam between the trunk and the body. This does not exist on the passenger's side. It almost seems like this car may have been in an accident at one point. When I spoke with the previous owners, they simply told me that they never noticed this difference in the trunk lid.

The rear springs is a weak point. They can get lower unevenly. It is a common problem. But first take the measuring tape, put the car on a flat surface and measure the distance between the floor and all four wheelarches for example. Then lift the car with the jack putting it at the center of the front axle and then at the center of rear axle to find out where is the problem, because the front axle with the stabilizer is much stronger than the rear one. If the stabilizer is adjusted incorrectly it can easily tilt the whole car to one side. Finally, the whole body can be curved...
This is great advice, thanks! I will do this exactly and post the results. It is also good to know that it is a common problem.

And the last thing. Due to the serial number, the engine was manufactured in 2002.
REALLY? Wow. Then it is not possible I think to know exactly what has been done to this engine or when. I can only work with what I have and take it from there.
Thank you again.

Второе февраля - "День Сурка", и если день солнечный, то зима продлится ещё шесть недель.
Весьма символично мне показалось вылезание из норы на свет в этот день

Hi CROCRIDER- I understand your joke, funny! Thank you for your welcome.
